This poor momma and her babies found themselves at Palm Valley Animal Society in Texas. Palm Valley is one of the busiest and most under-resourced shelters in the nation. They serve pets and people in eight communities and can take in as many as 100 animals in a single day.

Without rescue partners like Wright-Way Rescue working with PVAS to transport animals out of Texas, this little family would not have had a chance. They are all now safe and warm in a loving foster home while they get ready for adoption.

Do you remember Riker who lived the first part of his life locked in this small shed in Texas? We are thrilled to report that Riker has found a safe and loving home! Thank you for believing in our mission and enabling dogs like Riker to receive the second chance they deserve.

A man contacted one of our rescue partners in Arkansas for help with a stray dog. She had nine puppies under his shed and he did not want her or the puppies. If they could not take them, he was going to have them all euthanized rather than have to deal with them. Our partner was full, so they immediately reached out to us. This beautiful momma and her puppies arrived yesterday and are looking for a foster home until the puppies are old enough to be adopted and she can be spayed.

Pumpkin was found wandering down the middle of a country road in Arkansas. Our rescue partner in the area took her in and cared for her until we could pick her up on one of our regular rescue runs. Even though she was emaciated when found, she has now put on much needed weight, loves everyone she meets, and is ready for any new adventure that comes her way.

Cider was found cold, wet, covered in mud, infested with parasites, and trying desperately to care for her eight nursing puppies in a rundown chicken coop. We cannot imagine how she must have felt knowing that her puppies were suffering and she could do little to help them.

With freezing temperatures approaching, her puppies didn’t stand a chance. Luckily, a rescue partner in Oklahoma became aware of Cider’s situation. She spearheaded a massive effort to get this family safely to Wright-Way Rescue. A group of volunteer transporters came together to get them from Oklahoma to Illinois as quickly as possible. One volunteer even provided an overnight stop for this sweet family.

Mom and puppies arrived at Wright-Way Rescue just in time. They were all suffering from a severe parasite load that could have killed them. Momma Cider was exhausted and her bones protruded from her dull coat. Despite this she was still caring for her babies.

After a week in a foster home, lots of medical care and TLC, a sparkle appeared in Cider’s eyes that was not there before. She began to play and give kisses. She started to explore and interact with the children in her foster home. One of her puppies had a broken, infected tail that it could not move. The young puppy required corrective surgery as soon as it was stable. We are happy to report the surgery went well and the puppy made a full recovery. This is the good you do. YOU LITERALLY MAKE TAILS WAG AGAIN!

After a few weeks, this family is unrecognizable. Their coats are shiny and they are no longer thin or hungry. This week they will be ready for adoption! This is what rescue is, and this is where your donations go. YOU have a direct impact on homeless animals.
