To join our dynamic team of volunteers, please begin by reviewing our volunteer positions and then filling out a volunteer application. A Wright-Way Rescue representative will be in touch with you soon for training.
Please note: Junior Volunteers are for high school students only. We will need a parental consent form on file before you can volunteer.
After your volunteer application has been received and processed, you will be notified when our next New Volunteer Orientation is being held. After you have taken a New Volunteer Orientation, you can come to the Wright-Way Rescue Adoption Center Sunday-Saturday between 8AM-7PM, as well as Thursdays and Fridays until 8PM. This training must be taken before you can volunteer in the shelter.
Canine Crew/ Pooch Patrol/ Doggy Duty/ Bow Wow Brigade - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Dog Walker
Volunteer dog walkers help to keep our animals happy and healthy, and therefore, more adoptable!
Responsibilities include:
Walking designated dogs along the assigned routes
Maintaining the cleanliness of the neighborhood by cleaning up after the dog on the walk
Following the guidelines taught during training regarding safe animal interaction
Meet & Greet Counselor
Meet & Greet counselors play an integral role in pairing adopters with their perfect canine counterpart.
Responsibilities include:
Working with potential adopters to match them with a dog or puppy that meets their individual needs
Facilitating introductions between potential adopters and puppies or dogs
Following the guidelines taught during training regarding safe animal interaction
Caretaker
Volunteer caretakers have a hands on role in the caring and cleaning of the dogs and puppies at Wright-Way. Sanitation and cleanliness are a key factor in this position.
Responsibilities include:
Maintaining the cleanliness of the animal enclosures
Providing food, water, clean bedding and toys to the dogs and puppies
Giving baths as needed
Ensuring sanitation protocols are being followed to maintain the health and wellness of the animals
Following the guidelines taught during training regarding safe animal interaction
Cat Crew
Cat Socializer
Volunteers interested in socializing cats will help the cats and kittens at Wright-Way to get exercise and playtime, keeping them happy and healthy, therefore, more adoptable!
Responsibilities include:
Socializing cats and kittens by playing with them, brushing them, and getting them adapted to handling
Following the guidelines taught during training regarding safe animal interaction
Meet & Greet Counselor

Caretaker

Assisting in the Office
This is perfect for volunteers that want to give back but may not be able to work hands on with animals, or just want to put their office skills to good use!
Responsibilities include:
Answering phone calls and general questions about Wright-Way Rescue
Responding to emails and reviewing online Adoption Surveys
General office work
Events
Off Site Events Volunteer
Wright-Way Rescue holds many fundraising events that aim to bring awareness to the importance of adopting animals as well as fundraise in order to continue Wright-Way’s lifesaving mission.
Responsibilities may include:
Helping load/unload for events
Setting up/breaking down for events
Handling animals
Talking about the mission of Wright-Way Rescue
Transporting animals to and from events
Assisting with adoptions
