Nowhere to Turn, Plenty of Love to Give

Wright-Way Rescue recently journeyed to the heart of rural southern Illinois to answer the call for a cat in desperate need. This remote area lacked animal control, shelters, and any rescue organizations, leaving vulnerable animals with nowhere to turn.

The cat, whom we named Reese, was in a critical state. A large open wound marred her side, and her thin frame spoke volumes about her malnourishment. Without immediate intervention, her survival chances were slim.

We rushed Reese to Wright-Way Rescue's Admissions & Medical Services Campus, where our dedicated team sprang into action. During her initial exam, a surprising discovery came to light – despite her thinness, Reese had a round belly. She was expecting kittens!

Facing a double challenge, our medical team treated Reese's injuries with meticulous care while preparing her for a fast-approaching delivery. Just days after arriving at the shelter, Reese delivered four healthy kittens in the comfort of the hospital setting.

Even while healing from her wounds, Reese has proven to be a phenomenal mother. Her unwavering love and care for her kittens are a testament to her strength and resilience. Now, this beautiful family of five has a bright future filled with hope.

YOU make miracles possible for animals like Reese. Your support fuels Wright-Way Rescue's mission of bringing help and hope to countless homeless animals in need. We can't continue this vital work without your generosity. Donate today and help provide medical care, food, and shelter for animals like Reese and her kittens, and countless others waiting for our help to arrive in time.

Hano's Story

Wright-Way Rescue was alerted to a case involving an emaciated Doberman in extremely concerning conditions by the IL Department of Agriculture. The dog was barely surviving in piles of debris at a home in rural Mounds, IL, a town that does not provide animal control resources despite a state law to do so. There are simply no funds. In cases like these, the IL Department of Agriculture and private rescues like Wright-Way Rescue are often the only chance these animals have to be helped.

Wright-Way Rescue was told that the owner of the Doberman had reluctantly agreed to give up ownership of the dog. This was great news, as it meant the dog could receive the urgent medical care he needed without delay. Upon learning this, a representative from Wright-Way Rescue drove to the property to provide transport for the dog back to WWR’s veterinary clinic. They met with a local volunteer and together they were both horrified to discover this sweet boy in the condition he was found in.

The Doberman emerged from the debris and when he did, you could clearly see every bone in his body protruding from his dull coat. He has a tumor on his underside that has gone without care. Additionally, there are abrasions and wounds covering his body, and his face was bloody from injuries that were in varying stages of trying to heal without proper care. It is clear that this dog has suffered immeasurably.

When the staff member opened the back of the vehicle, he used all the energy he had and leaped into the back, seemingly knowing it was his ticket out of the situation he had been suffering through. When he arrived at the shelter, his gentle and trusting demeanor shone through, and despite what he has been through, he has the most incredible personality.

We named him Hano, which is Hawaiian for "glorious, magnificent, and noble." Hano has a long road to recovery and treatment ahead of him. Wright-Way Rescue is seeking financial contributions to go towards his medical bills and care which will be costly and time consuming but Hano deserves this chance.

Little pups for rescue

Cove, Brecken and Ridge, three littermates, were found wobbling around a neighborhood in Oxford, Mississippi when they were only three weeks old. There was no momma dog anywhere to be found, so our partner took them in and cared for them until they were ready to catch a ride on our transport to Illinois. These sweet, affectionate little pups are ready to find their homes.

3 puppies from Mississippi

Jessica, Mike and Donna came to us from Mississippi. Our rescue partner got a call from the frantic owner that her landlord was forcing her to put them outside in 15 degree weather immediately or she would be kicked out along with them. They responded immediately, but she was forced to put the 5 week old puppies outside until they could get there.
