Amber was found alone and injured
Amber was found wandering alone with a serious injury running along the entire length of her spine.
There wasn’t enough room for her at the shelter in Brownwood, TX, but, instead of turning the poor dog away, a dedicated volunteer offered to take her home.
That’s how rescue goes. It’s a leap of faith that someone, somewhere is going to help.
The injury to Amber’s back appears to be a long burn caused by a radiant heat source, such as the exhaust pipe of a car. At Wright-Way Rescue, we see injuries like this several times a year on dogs who have been found as strays. The only thing our vets can confirm is that the burn is thermal rather than chemical, and that, despite its appearance, it is not a cut or laceration as would be caused by a dog squeezing itself under a fence.
As a rescue working in the most underserved communities of the Rural Midwest, South, and Southeast, we are forever taking leaps of faith. We visit terrible hoarding situations, take on incredible medical cases, and transport thousands of animals to safety every year so that they can have a second chance.
Amber is the sweetest of dogs, but her life was at risk simply because she didn’t have a loving home of her own — not because she didn’t deserve one.
We are so grateful that we get to be that “someone, somewhere” for so many rescue partners. We take many, many leaps of faith in this work, and we could never do it without your help. Thank you for your generosity and support.
Without you, Amber’s transport and medical care would never have been possible. Please give today!
