Mom and Pups from Arkansas

A man contacted one of our rescue partners in Arkansas for help with a stray dog. She had nine puppies under his shed and he did not want her or the puppies. If they could not take them, he was going to have them all euthanized rather than have to deal with them. Our partner was full, so they immediately reached out to us. This beautiful momma and her puppies arrived yesterday and are looking for a foster home until the puppies are old enough to be adopted and she can be spayed.

It is your support, both financially and physically through fostering, that allows us to continue helping animals like this beautiful mommy and her adorable babies.

Your help brings hope and encouragement to our Rescue Partners advocating to change the way homeless pets are treated in the rural and impoverished communities that Wright-Way Rescue works tirelessly to assist.

Pumpkin from Arkansas

Pumpkin was found wandering down the middle of a country road in Arkansas. Our rescue partner in the area took her in and cared for her until we could pick her up on one of our regular rescue runs. Even though she was emaciated when found, she has now put on much needed weight, loves everyone she meets, and is ready for any new adventure that comes her way.

With your help and support, we can ensure that other puppies like Pumpkin get the same chance for a loving, forever home.

Thank you for supporting Wright-Way.

Cider and her pups

Cider was found cold, wet, covered in mud, infested with parasites, and trying desperately to care for her eight nursing puppies in a rundown chicken coop. We cannot imagine how she must have felt knowing that her puppies were suffering and she could do little to help them.

With freezing temperatures approaching, her puppies didn’t stand a chance. Luckily, a rescue partner in Oklahoma became aware of Cider’s situation. She spearheaded a massive effort to get this family safely to Wright-Way Rescue. A group of volunteer transporters came together to get them from Oklahoma to Illinois as quickly as possible. One volunteer even provided an overnight stop for this sweet family.

Mom and puppies arrived at Wright-Way Rescue just in time. They were all suffering from a severe parasite load that could have killed them. Momma Cider was exhausted and her bones protruded from her dull coat. Despite this she was still caring for her babies.

After a week in a foster home, lots of medical care and TLC, a sparkle appeared in Cider’s eyes that was not there before. She began to play and give kisses. She started to explore and interact with the children in her foster home. One of her puppies had a broken, infected tail that it could not move. The young puppy required corrective surgery as soon as it was stable. We are happy to report the surgery went well and the puppy made a full recovery. This is the good you do. YOU LITERALLY MAKE TAILS WAG AGAIN!

After a few weeks, this family is unrecognizable. Their coats are shiny and they are no longer thin or hungry. This week they will be ready for adoption! This is what rescue is, and this is where your donations go. YOU have a direct impact on homeless animals.

This is the difference that YOU make when you support Wright-Way Rescue. Without our donors, we would not be able to help families like Cider and her eight pups.

BLIND PUPPY IS RESCUED, RECEIVES SURGERY, AND FINDS AN ADOPTER Thanks to YOU!

A gentleman was traveling between two small towns when he noticed a person standing in the middle of the bridge with a dog and a litter of puppies. The person was staring down into the water so he stopped to see if he could help. The dogs’ owner told him he could not care for them, gave him the mom and pups, and immediately left the area. Their new “owner” was able to find a local rescue to take them all in and keep them safe.

One of the puppies was completely blind and had two undeveloped eyes. Many small towns in rural areas do not have Animal Control facilities, access to affordable veterinary care, or any other options for unwanted animals. Animals with special needs such as this puppy often are at an even greater disadvantage. This is why our regular Rescue Runs to these areas are saving the lives of so many animals.

Dixie and her puppies were among the lucky ones to have gotten on Wright-Way’s transport van to a new life. Her blind puppy received the surgery he so desperately needed. We are thrilled to update that this special pup was recently adopted to an incredible new family! Thank you for saving lives with us.
